We believe a free and informed press is the cornerstone of any healthy democracy. Our mission is to equip journalists with the skills, ethics, and knowledge to serve their communities with integrity.
Our History
Founded in 1996 by a coalition of leading editors and media freedom advocates, SLPI emerged during a pivotal moment for Sri Lankan journalism.
Over three decades we have grown from a small training centre into the region's premier media development institution, partnering with UNESCO, BBC Media Action, and leading international journalism schools.
